First Date Jitters

Phoebe had butterflies in her stomach. It had been a while since she'd been on a date with anyone... especially if she included the time she spent in Verens. It was also still a strange feeling to go on a date with such a normal guy, let alone one she could tell her big secret to.

But here she is, standing in the of the hotel dressed to impress waiting for a certain dentist.

He can't get the door for her, so he just stands aside as it arrives on the platform, and honest-to-god does the Jedi Mind Trick thing as they open.

"Why, let me get that for you. Ladies first."

He follows her on and sits next to her, glad she's already smiling. "How have you been? Spending time with your sister? ... Piper, right?"

She stifles a laugh as he does the nerd wave. Of course she's seen the movies but goodness, do people still do that?!

She's still smiling as she sits, nodding at his question. "Good! Piper, yes. Her hubby is here, too, so she's been spending a lot of time with him. So I've been working mostly. It gives me something to do." That last part was hastily added on, since she realized she was making herself sound like a workaholic... of course he called her out on it when he asked her out so it's not like it was anything he didn't already know. But no matter. "What about you?"

He noticed that she almost laughed, and counted it as a point in his favor. Phil mocked him for being dorky, but he knew it made people smile, even if it was because they thought he was making an idiot of himself ... and people needed to smile more. If his mishaps with Alan had taught him anything, it was how to lighten up a little.

"Um. Mostly working, too, but that's because Phil doesn't think he needs to get a job as long as he's stuck in another dimension."

He rolls his eyes in epic fashion as he helps himself to a seat beside her. "I guess I don't mind, because really, what else am I gonna do around here? And he's my friend. We've always had each other's backs."

She turns herself in her seat so she can look at him as they travel. It's harder to engage with someone when you're sitting side by side, but she's going to make it work.

That eye roll makes her laugh. She's seen that eye roll plenty of times, though usually from either Prue or Piper... and usually while talking about her. "I'm glad you at least have one friend here. Places like this can be easier when you know someone. Really, though, what does he do all day if he doesn't work? I mean, I know I drove my sisters crazy when I was unemployed, but at least I had things to keep myself busy."

"You know," he said, brightly bitter in a way that Alan would have called 'Classic Stu', "I spend so much time working, I'm not really sure. But tonight isn't about Phil. It's about you, and how gorgeous you look, and getting us both away from being workaholics."

That got a laugh. She smiled, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Oh you're too sweet! And I like the way you think." As the monorail turned, she reached out to hold onto his arm for balance.
